This was the most fun we’ve had yet! I put together a Christmas Scavenger Hunt, which you can download here. You will notice there are two copies – one with the last word included (to make it easier for younger children) and one with the last word missing (a bit more of a challenge for older children). Christmas Scavenger Hunt The kids loved it! We had ten clues in all, and some of them were a bit difficult to find, which made it even more fun. At the end, there was a little prize waiting for them. This was a big hit with...

What I love most about our Christmas tree are the memories that fill it. Each year, each child gets a new ornament to add to the tree. We usually collect these throughout the year on vacations. As a result, when we decorate the tree, we’re revisiting some of our best moments together as a family. When the kids grow and move out, they will be able to take their ornaments with them to start their own tree. This is a tradition that my husband’s parents began when he was young. So not only do we share in our family memories when...

Grab some hot chocolate, throw your kiddos in the car, and go see some Christmas lights! See how excited they are for this one? When we lived in California, there were several houses and neighborhoods that went all out with their Christmas displays. We haven’t been as lucky here in Kentucky. Our favorite place to see Christmas lights is down in Nashville. We go to Opryland every year, where we really enjoy walking through the hotel and seeing all the lights. How do you find good local Christmas displays? There is a website where...

We baked! There are so many scrumptious goodies to cook this time of year. We love to bake, and we love to share our goodies with others. This year we made pumpkin bread for Sunday School teachers and Classical Conversations tutors, and we wrapped them with these cute tags from Thirty Handmade Days: We made Frosty Nut Balls. I’m sure there’s another name for these, but that’s what we’ve always called them. These are a favorite in our house. Here is the recipe for you: Ingredients 1 cup softened butter 2/3 cup...

We love how they turned out, and I especially like how you can interchange the bows. As a thank you for checking out my blog, I’m giving one away…just in time for Christmas! The winner will receive one...

We’re going to add a little Christmas cheer! Although we already have our tree up and out our decorations out,  I thought we’d have the kids add their personal “kid” touch to our Christmas decor this year. Here are some ideas we found:     Snowflakes – although this is a winter decoration classic, I like how she put a little twist on it with the use of coffee filters and decorative edge scissors. Snowman Door – now this is just plain fun. Doesn’t it make you happy just to look at it? Stained...
